Georgia Angelopoulos and Miles Lowry at Eclectic Gallery

MARKS OF DEVOTION
Collaborative works by Georgia Angelopoulos and Miles Lowry
April 7 to May 10, 2014

You are invited to the opening reception of Marks of Devotion
on Saturday April 12th @ 3 to 5 pm
at Eclectic Gallery
2170 Oak Bay Avenue, Victoria BC.
Hours: Mon to Sat 10 - 5:30 closed Sundays

As pilgrims of a kind, calligrapher Georgia Angelopoulos and artist Miles Lowry draw from the visual and literary traditions of their respective heritage. Their individual travels have allowed them to experience first-hand the important artifacts of historic poets, artists and scribes.
This exhibition reunites their collaboration, first explored in 2011. By pulling words into paintings and paintings into script the two artists work on the same ground deciphering a mysterious balance of meaning and gesture. Together, their ‘marks of devotion’ connect to the roots and rituals of language, crafted using fine linen, gold, cast fibre, and mineral pigments.
