Fusako has been a professional artist in Japan since 1975.She was trained at the Sumire College of Art in Nagoya in 1971-1973.Her focus was traditional and contemporary fabrics and techniques, oil painting and graphic design. Her work has since been to create fabric art by a method known as "katazome" which utilizes cut paper design and glue resist. She has sold her fabric art through 10 galleries in central Japan.Fusako collects roots, bark, flowers, leaves and berries to prepare colours to be used for the background of his fabrics. The colours for the patterns are also natural but she does not make them. She occasionally uses acrylic paint for dyeing fabric used in clothing. While her products are stylized realism, they also have a functional aspect:clothing, cushions, linen tapestries, table liners or units in free-standing screens.
