" Absolute Abstract " at Slide Room Gallery

Paintings by Victoria Clarke, Joan Richardson and Gordon Shukin. This exhibition presents a selection of paintings by three Victoria artists dedicated to pure abstraction.  Students of senior Victoria painter Bill Porteous for the past decade, they occupy distinct positions along a spectrum from spontaneous expression to experimental process.  This  innovative work testifies to  the strong and growing presence of abstract painting, rooted in 20th century Modernism, as a valid - even vital -- practice in the contemporary art of this region.
