Tanta DeStaffany Pennington is an international artist based in Victoria, BC and is a Fine Arts Diploma graduate from the Vancouver Island School of Art. Tanta has exhibited work in the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Victoria International Airport, The Victoria Conference Centre, and various galleries, bistros,
and cafes throughout town. Art enthusiasts in Western Canada, Hawaii, Singapore, and Italy have privately collected her work.
Tanta’s practice includes painted relief structures using materials such as wire, wool, screws and objects made from metal, wood, and plastic fastened on canvas supports. Currently, she is focused on exploring a range of scales and formats including abstract watercolour paintings, installation, and canvas relief structures.
While Tanta’s curriculum vitae shows her diversity, there are two upcoming noteworthy events; from December 3 to 11, she will be a Canadian representative as a contemporary artist at the International 2011 Florence Biennale, joining artists from 84 nations. She is also the Artist in Residence, at The Oswego Hotel
in Victoria, BC.
