I tried to see this exhibit but alas, the gallery was closed every time that I dropped by. I squinted as hard as a could to get a glimpse through the window. It's unfortunate as I was unable to get close enough to see the works... from what I could see, it was a kaleidoscope of scenery and buildings that created the "islands".
ReplyDeleteAs an island girl myself, I know that islanders can feel isolated however we must realize that that in many cases we are all guilty of self-exile for the most part. We want to be separate and often that means disconnected from other things. I was unable to see the island that most identified with me, as suggested in the statement of the artist but I guess that is precisely why I am an islander... because I am an island unto myself.
Thank you for sharing!
