Liam Hanna-Lloyd in "Question Period"
What is your artistic background?
I started doing art as a child; I was encouraged to create and I was always around supplies and inspiration. I was influenced by local graffiti artists, comic books and creativity in general. I realized early in life that art was the most important way for me express my thoughts and feelings and interpret the world.
How do you describe your work?
My goal when creating a piece of art is, that in hundreds of years, if someone comes upon it, it will be a seen as a treasure with a humble timelessness. Often my pieces are collages, with found objects including strings, drift wood, ideas, images, paint, ink.
Who are the living artists you find most interesting?
Mark Sink, Maya Hayuk, Woodpile Collective.
Mark Sink right now has been interesting because I have been doing photography. He uses old techniques in his work, such as wet plates, and the images that are created are amazing.
Who are the no longer living artists you find most interesting?
Man Ray, Ernst Heinkle, Max Ernst, Goya, Basquait.
Should art have a social/political message?
If you do, it should. If you are sincere, than the work is sincere.
Why do you do art?
I do art because there are things I want to see made, build or created. I have an overactive imagination, and I am constantly thinking of ideas.
